Staring at You

As I look into your eyes,
A certain level of pain gets communicated-
You have seen too much...
I see the inner war you are battling,
And wish there were something I could do to help.
To see a loved one in such turmoil,
Is heartbreaking beyond belief.
There is nothing I would like more,
Then to go back to simpler times,
When you were full of life, and laughter…
When love was exuding from your soul effortlessly.
And now that morning sunrise,
That memory I search for-
Of when you shined so bright...
Has been lost to a gray haze.
I feel and see you,
It pains me to see such suffering,
My emotions of empathy must pale in comparison,
To the depths of despair you struggle with daily.
Can I help you in any way?
What words can be exchanged,
In order to break through this dark barrier,
Currently holding your soul?
I am almost left hopeless...
But I still have love for you,
And that cannot deviate from your side.
As I wake up this morning,
And make you my first thought...
I will continue to give you this side of me…
In hopes of seeing you again.
